Entry
The door is located on Merton Street. The pavement on either side of the door is at a steep incline, but is step free. Entrance is through a small ‘inner’ door within full-size wooden double doors. These can be opened by porters on request.
Unlocked during the day, locked at night (left open if a large event is happening).
Fob required when doors are locked. Fob reader is located at a height of 120 cm to the right of the main doors, and is recessed into the wall.
There is also a bell to call the porters who are present 24/7. This is located to the right of the main doors at a height of 115 cm.
There is an ‘exit’ button inside the lodge area to unlock the door from quad side. This is 107 cm high.
Access Level
Access into Front Quad from the full-size main door is fully flat and step-free (does not require going through the lodge itself).
Through the ‘inner’ door (door two (2)), access is not fully flat.
Access to the porters lodge from the main door (door three (3)) is fully flat but not step-free. There are three (3) steps. Step one (1) is 12 cm high, 90 cm wide and 60 cm deep. Step two (2) is 18 cm high, 80 cm wide and 32 cm deep. Step three (3) is in the doorway. It is 20 cm high and 72 cm wide. There are no handrails.
Access to the porters lodge from Front Quad is fully flat but not step-free. There are two steps from door four (4) from the lodge area into Front Quad. These are 90 cm wide and 16 cm high. There are plans to ramp this entrance in summer 2020.
Full-Size Main Door
Double door frame is over 200 cm wide.
The full-size door is fully flat and step-free.
Door is heavy.
Small Main Door
Door frame is 86 cm wide, and step-free, but not fully flat. There is a large lip through the full-sized door.
This is 13 cm high and 32 cm deep.
Door handle is 118 cm high.
Door is heavy and not powered.
Entrance to Porters Lodge from Main Door
Door frame is 72 cm wide and fully flat. Door is at the top of a set of stairs and is not step free. The step is 20 cm high.
Door is usually propped open.
Door is light.
Entrance to Porters Lodge from Front Quad
Door frame is 90 cm wide and fully flat. It is not step-free. Step is 16 cm high.
Note: there are plans to ramp this entrance in summer 2020.
Door handle is 72 cm high but usually propped open.

Access to the lodge itself is fully flat but not step-free, It is located to the right of the main door. The lodge is small and can become crowded at peak times.
Porter's counter is 107 cm high with a 73 cm cutaway.
Pidges are located at a height of 70 cm or above.
Nearest accessible toilet is #2, located in the Cloisters.
